Total investment in the No. 6 Naphtha Cracking Project amounts to US$17.5 billion which is translated into an annual investment of US$2.19 billion during its construction phase or 9% growth rate of private investment and 1 % of national economic growth.

When complete, the contributions of the No. 6 Naphtha Cracker Project to the country will be multiple. It will boost the confidence of the private sector, stabilize development of the petrochemical industry, promote upgrade of the petrochemical industry and balanced regional development, and shorten the gap between city and countryside. Other materialized benefits of the project include:

• The self-sufficiency rate of ethylene increased from 38% in 1994 to over 90% in 2009.
• Annual production value in 2009 has reached US$35.6 billion, which is 9% of Taiwan's GDP for the same year.
• US$1.98 billion alternative import value was created. It also leads the middle and down stream in-dustries development and creates extra USD 61.87 billion output values annually.
• Boosting government tax revenues by average over US$1.24 billion per year.
• Mailiao Port offers a more accessible gateway to local commerce, and improves the economic growth for the region.
• The excess electricity of the power plant will solve the problem of power shortage in Taiwan.
